Well Integrity in CCS Event
On the 22nd of October, SPE Romanian Section hosted the event “Evaluation, Remediation and Assurance of Well Integrity for Repurposed Wells in Carbon Capture and Storage” by James Yard – CCUS Development Manager.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) will play a critical role in decarbonised energy systems of the future. Analysis from leading scientific bodies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicate that Net Zero is not possible without a significant amount of CCS.
The presentation introduced the challenges with repurposing depleted fields and explored well intervention solutions to evaluate, remediate and manage existing well stock.
The venue also helped the SPE Romanian Section members to get in touch and network.
