SPE Romanian Section

Dear SPE Romanian Section Members,

One of our goals for this year is to offer empathy and help to the less fortunate people through an #SPECares event

Together we will join Casa Ioana in their Christmas Soup Kitchen initiative. The event provides access to warm meals, food, and warm clothing parcels for some of the homeless and impoverished people in Bucharest. Moreover, it also raises awareness around poverty and highlights the issues faced by people confronted with the lack of housing. Based on previous years, around 200 beneficiaries are expected to attend the event.

The Christmas Soup Kitchen event takes place at the Gara de Nord on Wednesday 14th December 2022 between 12:00 and 14:00. The British and Swedish ambassadors in Romania will be part of the volunteering team, serving warm food. Other volunteers will help with sorting and distributing food and winter clothing to the people.

How you can contribute:

– Join us and help coordinate the donations;

– Volunteer to help set up the location (14th of December, Gara de Nord) starting at 11:30 and offer support during the rest of the day;

– Donate warm clothing, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, and shoes (suitable for adult men, women, and children), sorted and labeled by category. Small toys would also be welcome;

– Donate canned food (meat, fish, fruit, etc.) as well as fresh fruit, nuts, biscuits, chocolates, etc.

Please note that for collecting the donated goods the deadline is the 9th of December.
