He graduated the Faculty of Geology and Geography at the University of Bucharest in 1962, few years later obtaining the Phd degree in Geology.
With over 60 research papers and a numbers of 8 lectures and treaties, Professor Șeclăman was one of the biggest names worldwide in Metamorphic and Magmatic Petrology, Mineralogy, Crystallography, Thermodynamics and mineral equilibrium , Structural Geology, Volcanology, Mantle petrology and Archaeology. The studies were made in specially in Southern and Eastern Carpathians and Apuseni Mountains.
Very active in the students life, organizer of the most important field trips at the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics. He guided over 50 bachelor and 18 Phd. thesis, some of his students are well renowned scientists at prestigious faculties in USA and Europe. He had a great involvement in reinstatement of Geology in high schools, author of the ninth grade handbook and training a series of professors for secondary school.
