Meeting ID: 338 275 674 830 8

Passcode: DN6Fb6i2

Bio:

Codruț Săraru is a Senior Production Technology Engineer with over 9 years of experience in artificial lift and production optimization in the oil and gas industry. At XP Group, he leads initiatives to increase equipment efficiency, reduce failures, and optimize operational performance.

Previously, he held engineering roles at OMV Petrom, focusing on automation of the optimization processes, data analytics, and new technology implementation. Codruț has developed several digital tools for performance tracking and artificial lift systems optimization.

He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and is certified in Lean Six Sigma and Agile methodologies. He is skilled in Power BI, Rodstar, SCADA, and VBA automation. Codruț combines technical excellence with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. He is passionate about field innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Abstract:

Even though at the beginning of exploitation, oil wells flows naturally, as reservoir pressure declines, an artificial system is required to overcome the pressure losses to surface. Selecting the optimum artificial lift system is a complex challenge, involving over twenty diverse criteria. Traditional selection processes frequently lacks a comprehensive analytical framework to address this multi-faceted problem effectively. We must consider that evaluating twenty criteria to select the optimal artificial lift system implies making a decision within a 20-dimensional space.

This study explores the application of multi-criteria decision-making methods for selecting the optimal artificial lift system in complex scenarios where over twenty criteria must be considered. To facilitate this, three Visual Basic Excel applications were developed based on the ARAS (Additive Ratio Assessment), COPRAS (COmplex PRoportional ASsessment), and TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) methodologies. The selection process for an artificial lift system for a specific well will be conducted using all three methods, with a comparative analysis of the results focusing on efficiency, complexity, and accuracy. This approach highlights the effectiveness of multi-criteria decision-making in addressing intricate decisions in the field.
