SPE Romanian Section 2024 – 2025 Board Elections

Dear SPE Romanian Section Members,
Would you like to volunteer?
We are excited to announce that the 2024-2025 Board positions are now open for applications as our current board mandate comes to an end in June. We invite everyone to apply and help shaping the future of the SPE Romanian Section.
With a membership of 200 professionals and 288 students, the SPE Romanian Section relies on your support to sustain its activities and contribute to professional growth through various programs and events. Our achievements thus far have been made possible by the dedication of our volunteer members.
Now is your chance to contribute to the development of the SPE Romanian Section’s strategy for the upcoming years:
• Presides over meetings of the section board
• Appoints all section committees and members of committees; replaces committee members as needed
• Communicates regularly with other officers, committee chairs, and members
• Communicates regularly with the Regional Director and SPE staff regarding section plans, needs, or challenges
• Attends SPE section officer conferences and regional officer meetings
• Ensures the section complies with all SPE policies
• Submits the annual report by 1 June
• Conducts election of section officers, ensuring that SPE is notified of the results via the online roster form. All
officers must be current, paid SPE members.
• Other responsibilities may be dictated by long- and short-term goals developed by the section
• Serves as primary contact for the Distinguished Lecturer program; frequently communicates with SPE staff
• Establishes goals for programming based on the technical and developmental needs of section members
• Sets and executes objectives for each section program, including budget and attendance targets
• Secures and contacts speakers
• Ensures all physical facilities or virtual aspects of the meeting are in order
• Ensures the meeting is properly announced and publicized
• Ensures section programs adhere to section and chapter event guidelines
• Ensures both members and non-members are fully aware of all the advantages of SPE membership
• Organizes and executes member recruitment drives
• Informs the section board about membership statistics
• Recognizes long-term members and local volunteers
• Encourages members to volunteer
• Manages and organizes Bulk Dues program for companies and members-at-large, if applicable
• Maintains online officer roster
• Encourages members to keep their member profiles up to date
• Maintains section operating guidelines and procedures
• Collects and disburses section funds as approved
• Provides annual financial details to be included in the section’s annual report
• Provides monthly financial reports and makes recommendations on the management of the section’s finances
• Maintains all accounting records, including deposits and payments
• Reconciles the bank account to the monthly financial statement
• Prepares annual operating budget
• Organizes an annual audit or review
• Engages Young Professional members in monthly, bi monthly meetings
• Serves as liaison and representative of the section’s Young Professionals
• Maintains frequent contact with all Faculty Advisors and student chapter officers of all SPE Romania chapters
• Offers suggestions for field trips, speakers, etc.
• Encourages section members to participate in student chapter activities
• Invites student members to attend section activities
• Attends student chapter officer meetings of all chapters when possible
• Works with chapter officers to develop a recruitment and retention strategy
• Encourages students to apply for society-sponsored scholarships
• Reports to the section board any pertinent information to support the student chapter
• Helps local students transition into professional members by encouraging participation in activities
• Establishes connection with Student Chapters and helps them connect with the local industry
- Section Officers:
8) Communications and Outreach Chairperson
• Works with Program Chair, Social Activities Chair, and Membership Chair to promote upcoming activities and
programs
• Promotes through broadcast email (Informz)
• Works with Social Media Committee, if applicable; the committee might include a graphic designer or
photographer
• Creates and shares newsletter—including selling ad space, recruiting reporters to provide input for stories, and collecting photos
• Works with Communications Chair and Social Media Committee, if applicable
• Plans award banquet, ceremony, or other ways to recognize recipients
• Recognizes and celebrates Distinguished members in the section
• Recognizes and celebrates local volunteers
Application Deadline: 6th of June, 2024
Timeline:
- May 30th – Open Application
- June 6th – Application closed; Eligibility verification
- June 7th – Start Online Voting through Google Forms (link will be sent via E-mail)
- June 18th – General Assembly
